Bethesda, MD— As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, opportunities to educate the public about the founding of the United States will be plentiful. The life story of General Lafayette has much to contribute to this unique moment. The Lafayette Trail is proud to introduce a new comprehensive website designed as a resource for educating the public on Lafayette's political discourse of national unity, American Republicanism, and new world democratic equality.
The new website, lafayette250.org, pursues a thematic branding similar to names such as america250.org, rhodeisland250.org, or revolution250.org. It seeks to encompass the story of the genesis of Lafayette's devotion to American Republicanism, but also the numerous trips that he made to the new world in 1777, 1780, 1784, and 1824.
Lafayette250 will replicate much of the website design of Lafayette2024, such as the marker map and the Day by Day narrative. It will also include brand-new features, such as an interactive calendar where each of our events will be posted. To access the calendar, please visit lafayette250.org/events, and select a display either by month, week, or day. You can alternatively select a display by list, which will automatically compile all the events of the week for you.
A new press room has also been designed to offer easy access for the general public to news released by the board of directors of The Lafayette Trail, Inc. To access the news room, please visit lafayette250.org/press. The newest releases will be posted at the top of the page.
We look forward to continuing our work to educating the public about General Lafayette's legacy as the United States prepares to celebrate a milestone in its national history. See you on the trail!
